Leader of the Islamic Community of Serbia Adem Zilkic wants the case of daily Blic’s photo-edit of Muamer Zukorlic to be brought to an end. He criticized the chief mufti of the rival Islamic Community in Serbia, Zukorlic, for "manipulating his followers". Mufti calls for end to photo-edit drama The Islamic Community of Serbia stated that Zukorlic’s “manipulation of the community and its institutions, and self-promotion in the attempt to gain political points is unacceptable.” Zilkic stated that he supports the apology of the daily for its photo montage of Zukorlic dressed like an Orthodox bishop. The Islamic Community of Serbia stated that the photo-edit was a thoughtless joke that damages the dignity of an individual. “The apology of the paper was necessary, and there should be an end to the whole case was not, in order to stop further manipulation,” the Islamic Community of Serbia stated. Zukorlic’s Islamic Community in Serbia over the weekend called for a boycott of the newspaper and announced it would it for damages worth EUR 100mn. The Human and Minority Rights Ministry criticized the statement from Zukorlic’s camp that the photo-edit represents “a continuation of genocidal policies towards Muslims”. “I would not play with these kinds of statements, especially because of the sensitivity to everything that happened in the 1990s. I have respect for the members of the Bosniak national minority, especially toward the victims of the politics of the 1990s,” a state secretary in that minister, Marko Karadzic, told B92. Munir Poturak of the Sandzak Democratic Party said that Zukorlic and the Islamic Community in Serbia were getting involved in politics, something, he believes, they should avoid. Poturak said that the recent events and actions undertaken by Zukorlic were "only a continuation of his campaign for the election of the National Council through the Bosniak cultural community".
