The Director of the Bor post office told police that an unidentified person brought the forged payment slips with SNS logos to the post office of distribution. Interior Minister Dacic confirmed the information. “Unidentified person brought forged slips to Bor” Serbian postal service PTT in the town of Bor had been sending forged payment slips with SNS logos, false account numbers complete with forged signatures of the party’s leader Tomislav Nikolic to the citizens, ahead of the local elections. Dacic said that there is no reason for anyone to accuse of the police of not wanting to investigate the case, adding that if anyone has information on the case, they should contact the police. “We have no other information, but if it is easier for someone to accuse me, then that is a different issue,” Dacic said. He said that everyone involved in the distribution of these payment slips will be prosecuted. “I believe that whoever did this did not have any personal gain, but did act illegally and must be processed,” he said, adding that the police are willing to investigate all leads. He said that the Interior Ministry had nothing to do with the distribution of the forged payment slips and that this should be apparent to everyone. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has called on police to investigate the case. The party says that it would not accept the explanation that it was an unidentified person who was behind it. “Imagine a situation where an unidentified person enters the post office and goes straight to the director to give them these slips, asking the citizens to pay money to the SNS,” SNS official Nikola Selakovic said, adding that the explanation is childish and it insults the intellect of the citizens. The Bor post office director and two other people have been charged for a misuse of position. Selakovic said that very powerful people whose names are being protected are most likely behind the election scandal, and called on the state to solve the case. Ivica Dacic (Tanjug)
