PM meets with Chinese officials

Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met on Thursday with visiting Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic. Hui hailed traditional China-Serbia relations, saying the two countries have witnessed progress on trade cooperation and cultural exchanges and had good coordination on international affairs, Xinhua reported. PM meets with Chinese officials "China-Serbia cooperation has made new improvement particularly since the two countries established strategic partnership last year," said Hui, adding that he hoped the two countries could hold consultations on trade and infrastructure projects and achieve tangible results during Cvetkovic's five-day visit. Cvetkovic, who started his working visit to China on Thursday, said Serbia has no fundamental conflicts with China and the two countries share common ground on major international and regional issues. Serbia will take advantage of political trust between the two countries to expand trade exchanges and advance both political ties and pragmatic cooperation, said Cvetkovic. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is due to hold talks with Cvetkovic in eastern China city Hangzhou on Friday. Cvetkovic will also attend the ceremony of Serbian Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo. The prime minister also met with representatives of some major Chinese companies on Friday in Beijing, Tanjug reported. They discussed the possibilities for investing in Serbia and further enhancement and deepening of the two countries' economic cooperation, said the report. After talks with Chinese businessmen, Serbian prime minister, who arrived in China on Thursday, told Tanjug that his visit to Beijing and Shanghai is aimed at enhancing the two countries' political cooperation and dialogue, as well as their economic relations. The prime minister and his delegation are also scheduled to meet with Chinese state officials, and will later in the week travel to South Korea.
