Director of the Gracanica Health Center Rada Trajkovic said that there is still no mobile or landline service for Serbs in the region of central Kosovo. In a letter to the Serbian Telecommunications Minister Jasna Matic, Trajkovic said that the Minister’s statement that phone services have been restored to central Kosovo is not true, adding that the emergency medical services are still completely disconnected from patients, which is endangering many lives. Still no phone service in central Kosovo “I am addressing you with a request for you to use your authority and have some effect on the returning of the phone signal in the region of central Kosovo…Every minute is important for us, because we have had situations of seriously sick children, traffic accidents and cardiovascular diseases in which we received late calls for help and we intervened at the last minute,” Trajkovic stated in her letter. Matic stated on Friday that phone services were restored throughout most of Kosovo for people using Serbian operators Telekom and Telenor. She said that the ministry called on UNMIK to stop the illegal behavior of the Kosovo government, which is causing great damage to the citizens and the Serbian operators. On April 23-24, the Kosovo government began destroyed and disabling Serbian networks in Kosovo, claiming that they do not have licenses to work in Kosovo, leaving some 100,000 Serbs without phone services in the central and southern part of the province.
