Prosecution and police are working on identifying a group which made threats against Serbian President Boris Tadic. The death threats surfaced recently on the social networking website Facebook. Prosecution probes online threats Deputy High Prosecutor at the High-Tech Crime Department Sasa Radulovic told B92 that the prosecution thought there were elements of the criminal act of endangering of safety in the case. He specified that they would ask U.S. authorities to reveal IP addresses where the threats came from. Radulovic explained that high-tech crime, along with organized crime, “and international tourism”, was transnational. When asked how much the use of public computers in internet cafes could hinder the investigation, the deputy high prosecutor said that it could make it difficult but that every online activity leaves a trace, and that it was possible to find the person behind the threats According to him, those who make threats online often do it from their own computers because of the false feeling of anonymity created by the internet. A group dubbed “Tadic, the armored Merc is in vain, when you open the door a sniper awaits you” was created on Facebook. The threats have been condemned by all parliamentary parties.
