Croatian President Ivo Josipovic is on a two-day visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina, reports said. There, he will "make a move than can be qualified as historic by visiting the village of Ahmici, in central Bosnia, on Thursday, where he is expected to apologize", the Wednesday edition of the Zagreb daily Jutarnji List writes. Croat president to apologize in Muslim village "Not even former Croatian president Stjepan Mesic dared to make such a move, nor any politician in the rank of prime minister," the newspaper pointed out. According to this report, "Ahmici is a great burden on the conscience of the Croatian official policy, bearing in mind that 116 Bosniak (Muslim) civilians, mostly women and children, were killed there on April 16, 1993". The village was attacked by the Military Police 4th Battalion of the Croat Council of Defense (HVO). "After pressure from the international community and very serious, but unofficially made threats of sanctions to Croatia, proceedings were launched against several members of HVO, as well as against a member of the Croat Democratic Community (HDZ) of Bosnia party Dario Kordic," Jutarnji List writes. Since the day the crime was committed, Croatia has never accepted to assume any kind of responsibility, and it has not paid respects to the victims, said reports. Josipovic started his first official visit to Bosnia on Wednesday, where he will meet with members of the country's presidency, and High International Representative Valentin Inzko.
