Director of Humanitarian Law Fund (FHP) Natasa Kandic says the Srebrenica declaration “would in due time contribute to reduced tensions in Bosnia-Herzegovina”. “A positive side to the adoption of the declaration is that it will in due time influence a reduction of tensions in Bosnia-Herzegovina and change of opinion of the citizens of Republic of Srpska regarding Srebrenica,” she said. "Declaration to contribute to less tension" The FHP director stressed that it was good that the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) had also voted in favor of the declaration. “The party which was in power at the time of the most gruesome crimes has made a significant change,” Kandic said, and added that the declaration condemning crimes against Muslims in Srebrenica in 1995 never would have been adopted without the SPS MPs. She stressed, however, that the atmosphere during the debate in the Serbian parliament “was ugly” and that it was not good that the word "genocide" was "not clearly used". Kandic repeated that Serbia should declare July 11 Srebrenica Memorial Day.
