National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Radovan Jelasic has resigned, it has been confirmed. Jelasic said in Belgrade on Tuesday that the move came "for personal reasons". Central bank governor resigns Jelasic told a news conference that he had informed the prime minister and the president about his decision. He denied that there was political pressure against him, either concerning the resignation, "or in the past six years" while he held the office. Jelašić told a news conference that he had informed the prime minister and the president about his decision.

He denied that there was political pressure against him, either concerning the resignation, "or in the past six years" while he held the office.

Jelašić will continue as NBS governor until the Serbian parliament elects his successor.
