Delta Holding has denied having any joint investments with "businessman Stanko Subotic", it was announced in Belgrade. Subotic, aka Cane, is a suspected mastermind behind the cigarette smuggling operations in the 1990s. Delta, daily deny allegations According to the announcement, Delta Holding, a private company owned by Miroslav Miskovic, is completely rejecting all the allegations which Subotic made on B92 TV on Monday evening. Delta Holding stated that it had never had joint investments with Subotic, pointing out that it was "the least true that it had incurred debt toward him". Subotic told B92 that Miroslav Miskovic and businessman Milan Beko had bought daily Vecernje Novosti and Port of Belgrade with his money, and that they were "attacking him now because they did not want to return the EUR 50mn". Delta’s announcement today also said that they expect institutions to "react efficiently and give legal protection to domestic companies which do their business responsibly and are consistently implementing domestic and international business standards". The editorial team of Vecernje Novosti, meanwhile, also rejected the allegations heard from Subotic, saying that B92 TV's talk show last night was a "professionally choreographed attack" on the newspaper. A statement issued by the daily in Belgrade on Tuesday adds that the state, as a major shareholder, along with other owners of the company, has a duty to protect its interests. The Vecernje Novosti company issued a statement of its own, saying that after Subotic was given significant space on B92 TV, it decided to refuse to debate "with a person from Interpol's red warrant". "It is in the interest of the public and our readership to learn that Subotic's money is not present in the capital of Novosti," the statement concluded. Yesterday, the Port of Belgrade company, mentioned in the same context, also denied all allegations.
