Ruling DS spokeswoman Jelena Trivan said that the opposition in Serbia is not offering anything constructive to the country. She said that instead of insisting on elections constantly, the opposition should focus on helping to solve problems. ”Opposition has no ideas, program” The joint demand of SNS, NS and DSS for calling new parliamentary elections is a demagogical move, Trivan said, and added that smokescreen hiding their lack of political program and ideas. She said that the gathering of signatures for the election initiative had the goal of getting SNS to position itself in the political scene, and to position the opposition parties between themselves, rather than in relation to the ruling coalition. Trivan said that the ruling coalition is not afraid of a united opposition, adding that she hopes that there will be no more orchestrated efforts to obstruct the work of parliament. “I expect that the opposition will be more mature, and for their activities to not aim at obstructing anyone, especially not the official institutions, but to offer constructive criticism and the possibility to find a better solution through this kind of approach,” Trivan said. “As far as the parliament is concerned, we will not allow any obstruction, sticking to the procedures and rules that work for everyone, and we will always respect every initiative which the opposition has,” the DS spokeswoman said. Trivan was also quoted as saying that the ruling coalition has a "stable majority in parliament". The three opposition parties today in Belgrade continued their campaign aimed at forcing early parliamentary elections in the country. The largest of them, SNS, has consistently been shown neck and neck with the ruling Democrats in the polls.
