A judge in Pristina handling the case against Self-determination movement leader Albini Kurti has order police to arrest the suspect. Kurti did not show up to a scheduled hearing on Monday, after which the judge, presiding over the trial chamber, made up of EULEX and local judges, decided to order his arrest. Judge orders police to bring in Kurti “The order of the court is an obligation according to Article 341 of the law on criminal procedures of Kosovo. The article states that if the accused does not show up to the main hearing and does not justify his absence, the trial chamber president can issue an warrant for bringing him before the court,” EULEX stated. Kurti is accused of three crimes allegedly committed during the February 10, 2007 protests this radical ethnic Albanian movement organized, when two people were killed and 80 demonstrators were injured. 64 non-governmental organizations have signed a petition against the trial. The petition was also signed by 76,000 Kosovo residents from 22 municipalities in only six days, said reports from the province.
