Serbian President Boris Tadic has arrived in Banja Luka, where he will attend Republic of Srpska (RS) Day celebrations. RS Day, celebrated on the day of the entity’s patron saint St. Archdeacon Stefan, will be attended by various foreign and international diplomats. A reception for the guests was hosted by RS President Rajko Kuzmanovic. President in Banja Luka for RS Day Tadic said that the future of the entire region is within the European Union, and that all regional countries should be good neighbors and friends. “Together we all have a future in the European Union,” Tadic said. He said that the Serbian people are fighting for their national interests, “but all people on the territory of the Western Balkans have this right as well.” “I believe that our people should reconcile and that the hand of reconciliation will be a symbol of joint value,” Tadic said, adding that all the people of the region “have great challenges ahead” and that “they should lead policies for stressing the differences in identities and the different national interests.” “We have to respect the legitimacy of different identities and national interests at the beginning of this century, unlike the 1990s,” Tadic said. RS President Kuzmanovic said that RS is stable and of a European orientation. “RS showed and proved that it is constructive and not a factor of disruption in its relations towards the citizens, towards Bosnia-Herzegovina and the EU,” Kuzmanovic said. He said that the RS wants cooperation and partnerships with everyone, not conflicts. “We have condemned and will continue to condemn all pressure, no matter where it comes from, even from the international community and its representatives. They, unfortunately, are illegally acting on legal and legitimate bodies and institutions of the RS instead of offering help,” Kuzmanovic said.
