Opposition party MPs said in parliament in Belgrade this Monday that the government has spent more money than planned for 2009. Amendments submitted on a draft law for changes to the budget law for 2009, set expenditures at RSD 719.8bn, income at 614.9bn, and a budget deficit of 104.8bn. Opposition accuses govt. of wasting money Opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) MPS stated that parliament should have discussed the review before the 2010 budget was debated, because it determined a higher deficit by RSD 34bn. The party added that the budget for next year has no basic goals, such as preserving the domestic industry, jobs and protecting the citizens’ living standard. The opposition Serb Radical Party (SRS) criticized the government for not saving in 2009, causing the money to be spent "in a way which was not planned". They also accused the government of violating the Budget System Law. The Serb Progressive Party (SNS) MPs commented on the "pinnacle of the government’s arrogance" when the cabinet for presenting a rebalance of the budget that envisages a huge deficit, which represents “spending the future in advance.” The debate on amendments to the bills on the agenda of the eighth fall session completed this afternoon, while voting has been scheduled for Tuesday.
