Tomislav Nikolic says that cooperation is possible between his Serb Progressive Party (SNS) and the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) after elections. The SNS leader told Belgrade daily Blic that he has had “unthinkably frequent contact” with SVM President Istvan Pastor over the last two years and that there are no more obstacles in cooperation between the two parties. SNS leader on cooperation with ethnic Hungarians “We will have coming elections, and local government around Serbia are falling, so we will surely have a chance for us to strengthen cooperation with SVM,” Nikolic said. Asked how they will settle differences regarding the Vojvodina statute and the law for the transfer of authorities, which SNS was against, Nikolic said that his party will not challenge these two Vojvodina documents. “But if SVM wants something more than that, we would have to diverge there. I don’t believe that they will ask for more,” he added. Nikolic denied that there was any agreement on not supporting the budget draft with SVM, but said that he agreed with the party’s objections to the 2010 budget.
