MUP to continue reform, fight crime

Interior Minister Ivica Dacic says the Interior Ministry (MUP) priorities for 2010 will be to continue police reforms and fight organized crime and terrorism. Dacic told reporters in Belgrade on Thursday that MUP would work on implementing the traffic safety law and the law on confiscating property gained through organized crime, and he announced that laws on emergencies and fire protection would be adopted. "Once Serbia's EU membership application is accepted, we will have a new road map, where the issues concerning interior affairs and the justice system will again be some of its key segments," he noted. According to Dacic, the most important things are the great results achieved in fighting organized crime and corruption, the fact that the Serbian citizens are safer now and that MUP is working in the interest of the country and all of its citizens.
