Bosnia-Herzegovina Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj said that the remaining conditions needed for visa liberalization will be fulfilled very shortly. He said that Bosnia is expected to be on the Schengen white list by the middle of 2010. Bosnian FM expects visa liberalization in 2010 Alkalaj reminded that the implementation of the visa liberalization will not be possible until changes to Bosnian laws are adopted and the laws of the entities and the district of Brcko are also harmonized. He also added that a police official must be named in accordance with the police reforms and an ombudsman office for human rights in Bosnia-Herzegovina must also be founded in full capacity, which will abolish the need for an entity ombudsman. Summing up the results of Bosnia-Herzegovina on the foreign policy spectrum in 2009, Alkalaj said that Bosnia-Herzegovina being accepted into the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member represents a great success which is needed to valorize the road to quality representation and to justify the trust invested in the country. He also said that he expects that Bosnia’s application for getting accepted into the action plan for NATO membership (MAP) will be approved at the next NATO ministerial summit in April, adding that this is the last step before full-fledged membership in the Alliance.
