Serbia's foreign and defense ministers, Vuk Jeremic and Dragan Sutanovac, met today in New York with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. A statement from the MFA says that they informed Ban about Belgrade's position on further civilian presence in Kosovo and Metohija in 2010. Foreign policy, defense chiefs meet UN sec.-gen. According to the statement, "the conversation's main topics were related to the manner in which UNMIK performs its function while representing the temporary institutions in Pristina in international gatherings." UNMIK is the UN mission in the province. Jeremic also informed Ban about the process being conducted at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), on the legality of the Kosovo Albanian unilateral declaration of independence, and expressed his hope that its outcome would contribute to the stability of the region. One of the topics discussed during the meeting was also participation of the Serbian Army (VS) personnel in UN operations. Jeremic separately met with the representatives of the current members of the UN Security Council, and with five future members of this UN body, the statement concluded.
