  1. Yulia Tymoshenko, who went from porn video to amassing a $11 billion personal fortune
    (Leonidas, 6 November 2009 19:04)

At last, a politician who had a decent job to kick-start his/her carrier. Besides, all the old wise books and legends (Bible, Hindus, etc) talk good about pro-creation (Yulia Timoshenko) and bad about destruction (Milo Djukanovic, Hash Thaci, etc.)

So all respect to her for her job promoting love, family values and creation :-)

  2. Tymoshenko said her rival, President Viktor Yushchenko, and the central bank had thrown obstacles in the way of the payment to Russian gas giant Gazprom, reflecting behind-the-scenes struggles ahead of a presidential election due in January.

Her comments in a three-paragraph statement reflect a similar charge made by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who in October warned that Yushchenko risked provoking a fresh crisis over gas supplies.

The roots of Ukraine's problems is the uncontrolled corruption at the highest levels of goverment and its internal fightings.

Tymoshenko and Putin signed a deal for Gazprom to sell directly to Ukraine last year but Yushchenko blocked it because he didn't want Tymoshenko to brag about it in her election campaign.
Furthermore, the Americans who own Yushchenko wanted to torpedo the deal.

On the other hand you have the energy oligarchs in Ukraine like Dmitro Firtash alias mr 50%-that is his cut from all Ukrainian gas imports from Russia- and who has Yushchenko and most of his goverment on his payroll
and Yulia Tymoshenko, who went from porn video to amassing a $11 billion personal fortune thanks to the gas import monopoly United Energy Systems that she set up with hefty bribes to former PM Lazarenko.

These struggles and contradictions within won't be resolved now or in the immediate future.

I think the next step for Ukraine will be bankruptcy and everybody is prepering for futher struggle for Ukraine - Russia, EU and US of course.

Where does the line get drawn? The passing of Patriarch Pavle, for whom all the respect paid to his memory was and is well deserved, allowed for some rather questionable decisions on the side of the government ...
