EBRD Director for Serbia Hildegard Gacek said on Tuesday that the bank would earmark EUR 400-500mn for Serbia in 2010.
The loans are to be used mainly for infrastructure and energy projects, she said.
Gacek was reported as saying that she expects great progress in attracting direct foreign investments to Serbia in 2010.
Addressing Serbia's 9th Economic Summit in Belgrade, Gacek said the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is ready to discuss with the Serbian government all its investment plans and possible increased funding for Serbia.
EBRD will do everything to convince foreign investors that Serbia is a good place for investments, she said.
Western Balkans will be a very attractive destination for investments in the future, she added.
Since 2001, EBRD has invested about EUR 1.7bn in Serbia through loans for 28 projects, she noted.
Of this total, 44 percent were invested in infrastructure projects and the rest in agriculture, energy, real estate and tourism sectors, Gacek said. |
