  1. "Clinton: Nuclear offer to Iran will not change"

Neither will Iran's rejection of that offer.

  2. Very difficult to believe and trust one another when you both know that both of your foreign policy plans were devised in "hell".

  3. Bob, its refreshing to see someone make valid points without bashing America every opportunity they get. I understand your logic but my point had more to do with Leonidas' daily anti-American rants and claims that have no facts to back them. He makes outrageous accusation without having any facts to back them! The American haters like him will find a reason to blame us for anything and everything that happens in the world.

The polls 2-3 weeks prior to the Iranian election all predicted a landslide because the regime in power refused to allow many parties to run candidates and used voter intimidation to ensure victory. What happenned in Iran was a suprise because inspite of the governments actions, the people decided to take a stand and demand freedom. What followed those elections was the public's frustration with the status quo. Iran did everything they could do hide the news & images from getting out but thanks to the internet (and those NGO's), the world got a glimpse into what was really happenning.

Don't belive that Obama is happy with the outcome of the Afghanistan elections either. Due to Karzai and the fraud, Obama has had to hold off any decision regarding troop levels and because of that he has taken a beating at home. One point that must be made is that Afghanistan initially ordered new elections following the fraud as opposed to Iran who decided send thugs out to the streets in order to silence the people.

America's "new" enemies who promote nationalization are no different than America's old enemies who promoted communism. Free markets are the basis for a strong economy. Look at how Venezuela is turning out. They are one of the world's leading energy producers and are forced to ration it in their own country! Look at Zimbabwe! Look at Cuba! These are just a handful of examples that prove this style economy does not work! China has become more and more successful in the last 20 years because they have opened their economy up to the private sector. You complain about the 1% being too strong, what about when the 1% is the government and they own the whole economy?!?

  4. Cue the twilight zone music, we have another wacky conspiracy theory alleging United States!!! Let me get this straight, the United States did not get involved following the rigged elections in Iran, but instead decided to covertly stage terrorist attacks?! You can't possibly believe these things, right?!
    (David Wright, 3 November 2009 16:47)

With the kind of administrations you get in US you can believe anything.

You recall of course that until 2007 the CIA and the Bush & Cherney clan were refusing any knowledge about the redition programmes, waterboarding and torture in Abhu Graib prison in Iraq.

What was the name of the woman soldier who was participating in torture in Iraq and became an instant hero on her return to US.There was some talk about making a Hollywood movie.

A lot of people, myself included, have to take into consideration all factors when neocons in US start talking about regime change.

  5. David, the US did get involved both prior to and after the Iranian elections. They set up a number of NGOs in support of the opposition. This opposition was in favor of capitalistic ventures, privatizing Iranian National projects and implementing another imbalance of wealth in yet another Country. Then after the elections, the US media blasted the winner saying it was rigged. Certainly the media forgot to take a look at the polls 2-3 weeks prior to the election. All of those independent US based surveys should the incumbent winning by a large margin (almost identical to what actually happened). The incumbent's, as in many of America's new enemies, views are to nationalize, to provide for his people, all of his people and not just the ones that pay his way through corporate donations.
David, by burying your head in US based media; you're missing most of the truth.
I'm not suggesting that the current leader of Iran is a great person, but he is doing what he needs to do for his people at the expense of people from other nations. That seems fair to me because Europe and North America follow this model to devastating ends. It’s not reasonable to try to destabilize a country, then to cry foul that you didn't accomplish this goal. I find the irony even greater that US/Obama had public condemnations of Iran's electoral process and recent results but they/he's accepted the same funny business in Afghanistan. Hmm...
Sure the US isn't evil incarnated. Just the power structure is. The people are like people everywhere. Soon they'll be more like people everywhere. Homelessness, joblessness and poverty are on the rise. Wealth accumulation in the top 1% is stronger and better than ever. If you're in that 1% David I'm more than happy for you and would ask that you might donate some $100,000 to me. I'm not in that 1%. I never will be. If however you're like myself, stuck in the mire somewhere down the ladder, you should notice this phenomenon if you're living in any of the western nations.
I simply get infuriated when people casually throw around phrases like conspiracy theory without fully understanding the nature of reality. Frankly there is little left in this world that does not happen through one form of manipulation or another. In its basic forms this is a conspiracy. Governments are put into place, not by the people but by the corporations. Governments know who their masters are. The financial market system is fully controlled by people. There is nothing natural about it. A hurricane is an act of god. A stock market crash is an act of man. An act of man is by definition a conspiracy of some sort. For good or evil it is.
    (bob, 3 November 2009 17:58)
  6. "Could it also be the recent bomb attacks in Iran which killed scores of revolutionary guards including six high ranking were the work of all those dark forces engaged in destabilising regimes were part of those plans for regime change?"

  7. The Obama administration hasn't been negotiating in good faith with the Iranians on the nuclear issue.

Back in April Hilary Clinton said:
We actually believe that by following the diplomatic path we are on, we gain credibility and influence with a number of nations who would have to participate in order to make the sanctions regime as tight and crippling as we would want it to be'

What she really means to say
is "Look, we've tried diplomacy, and it hasn't worked. We're going to have severely sanction Iran now, and you're going to have support us".

So why is Hilary Clinton threatening sanctions when IAEA experts are saying they likely won't be effective? Could it be because, as with Iraq in 2003, the whole nuclear/WMD thing is really just a pretext for attempted regime change, a cover for some impending economic or military aggression?

Republican senator, Jon Kyl, said in late September:

"What were trying to do here eventually is to get a regime change with a group of people in there that are more representative of the Iranian people, who we really can talk with in a way that might end up with a good result".

Could it also be the recent bomb attacks in Iran which killed scores of revolutionary guards including six high ranking were the work of all those dark forces engaged in destabilising regimes were part of those plans for regime change?
