Former U.S. president Bill Clinton has arrived in Kosovo. He will be meeting with Kosovo senior officials before addressing the province’s parliament. Former U.S. president visits Kosovo Clinton first attended the unveiling a his own personal monument, located in the Pristina street that already bares his name. This is the third time Clinton has visited Kosovo since 1999, and the first time since Kosovo proclaimed independence from Serbia unilaterally in February 2008. Before the visit, Kosovo President and Prime Minister Fatmir Sejdiu and Hasim Thaci said that Clinton’s visit to Pristina would be historical. Sejdiu called on citizens to “organize a grand reception for their great friend.” Sejdiu called Clinton “the man who led the largest humanitarian action in modern history for saving the people of Kosovo.” “The contribution of President Clinton to the freedom and independence of the Republic of Kosovo, and the contribution of every U.S. government was exceptional,” Thaci said.
