The adoption of the first Law on Diaspora and Serbs in the region started a "new era", says a government minister. "This regulation represents a foundation for creating partnership relations and will be of use to everyone at the economic, political and cultural plan," Minister for Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic stated on Monday in Belgrade. "New era in relations with diaspora" The Serbian government and state officials have shown that they are prepared to create institutional mechanisms for the construction of a new, responsible and long-term policy, Sreckovic told Tanjug, adding that "40 percent of the Serb people live outside Serbia's borders". "The Serb people in the diaspora have always helped and will continue to help their homeland and they must have the support of the modern Serbia, which tends to be a part of all integrations and a full member of the international community."
