Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic says that Serbia has not received any criticism at international level following the recent spate of attacks on foreigners. He said that he had not discussed the attacks at Friday’s talks with Slovakian Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, nor had there been any mention of the violence during his meetings at UN headquarters in New York last week. Jeremic: No criticism of Serbia over violence After meeting with Lajcak, Jeremic said that he had met with about 18 of the 27 EU member-state foreign ministers in New York, and that the topic had not came up. “No one mentioned it to me. This is something that must be condemned and punished severely and the state will continue doing so. The way the state conducted itself did not allow for any criticism in the international arena, and I am very glad about that,” Jeremic said. He also denied media reports that he was at loggerheads with Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac over the organization of the celebrations for the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade in World War II, which will be attended by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. “There is no dispute between myself and the defense minister,” Jeremic said. He added that the “government is completely homogenous and united regarding all political questions, including the organization of the Russian president’s visit. The minister said that he could not comment on what was said at cabinet meetings, and that what was said at these sessions should not be for public consumption. “Whoever is telling the public these things is behaving in a very unfriendly and amoral way. I would never do that, and I am convinced that Sutanovac never would either,” Jeremic concluded. Miroslav Lajcak and Vuk Jeremic (Beta)
