Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic will meet in New York with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. Djukanovic addressed the UN General Assembly on Friday night, speaking on the most pressing global issues and the foreign-political priorities of Montenegro. The two agreed that relations between the two countries are “a positive example of good neighborly relations and friendly cooperation in the region,” the Montenegrin government stated. The two prime ministers “especially pointed to the excellent relations in the security sector, through opening the border crossing between the two countries,” as well as the “successful cooperation within the Adriatic Charter.” The two also expressed interest in strengthening economic ties, especially in the fields of traffic, energy and environmental protection. The Montenegrin government added that thoughts were exchanged regarding Montenegro and Albania’s European integration, stating that the prime ministers agreed that cooperation should be intensified.
