The opposition Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic says his party did not become a part of the ruling majority. This did not happen "just by voting for the changes to the Law on Information", he told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik, and added that the party cannot be a part of the current Serbian government. "LDP didn't join ruling majority" "It is clear that we cannot be a part of such a stumbling government, because it has been put together through necessity, with enforced concessions and temporary and untruthful reconciliations. The government simply radiates with an inner weakness, and that is the problem which causes uncertainty in the whole country." "Therefore we have to be cautious and responsible. We have to criticize and speed up the government and not to trip it up, for its uncontrolled collapse would bring everything around us crashing down,' Jovanovic said. He was also quoted as saying that by voting for the amendments to the controversial medial law, the LDP wanted to and succeeded in protecting the jeopardized public interest. Jovanovic added that his party is ready for new elections, but society is still not strong enough to handle them. 'We have already said that we want elections to be held as soon as Serbia's candidacy for EU membership is granted. We will do our best for that to happen in the nearest future,' said he.
