The 15th annual Sarajevo Film Festival opens on Wednesday – one of the largest film-related events in the region. 13 programs will show 232 movies from 52 countries, and the festival organizers are expecting some 100,000 visitors, festival director Mirsad Purivatra confirmed. Sarajevo film festival set to open The film festival has been an event that many Sarajevo residents and people from abroad make sure not to miss, with many celebrities from the film world showing up to the and thousands of people heading to the theaters daily. The festival will be the most extravagant and rich it has ever been this year, according to organizers. The Romanian film "Tales from the Golden Age" by director Cristian Mungiu will open the festival on Wednesday. The movie was screened at the Cannes festival earlier this year. Young Serbian director-writer Milos Pusic is also expected to garner a lot of attention at the festival with his movie “Fall in My Street" ("Jesen u mojoj ulici"). The budget of the festival was a record EUR 1.3mn this year. There will also be many films shown from young directors from around the region, where they can present their work to many industry professionals that will be at the festival.
