Egypt support's Serbia's bid to host the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) 2011 summit, Beta news agency reports. The summit will be held on the 50th anniversary since the movement was founded. Egypt backs Belgrade's NAM summit ambition Egyptian Ambassador to Belgrade Aly Galal Bassiouny said on Saturday that his country welcomes Serbia's bid and wishes the country success in organizing the gathering. Egypt is currently holding the presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement. "As Egypt's representative, I can confirm that bilateral relations between Egypt and Serbia are on the best possible level," the ambassador said during today's reception organized to mark Egypt's Statehood Day. Bassiouny stressed that President Boris Tadic's attendance at the reception in Belgrade, as well as that by several government ministers, represents great honor for the Egyptian people and an expression of the special ties between the two countries. Tadic and Foreign Minister Vuk Jermic recently attended the NAM summit in Egypt. The movement was founded in 1961 in Belgrade, and currently gathers 118 countries.
