Zemun elects new municipal leader

Members of the Zemun assembly have elected a new municipal president, vice-president and members of the municipal council. The ruling coalition—made up of the Serb Progressive Party (SNS), the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS)—elected Branislav Prostran (SNS), a graduate in management and private businessman, to the office of municipal president. He was formerly Zemun municipal manager. The local authority in the municipality was constituted yesterday with the election of Branislav Tutus as the municipal speaker and Zivota Jocic as secretary. The Zemun local assembly is divided as follows: the SNS with 23 seats, the Democratic Party with 15, the SPS and DSS four each, the Serb Radical Party six, and Rasim Ljajić’s List for Tolerance one.

Also on today’s assembly agenda was the appointment of the electoral commission, the public defender and his deputy, as well as the appointment of a new editor-in-chief of the Zemunske Novine bulletin.

The local authority in the municipality was constituted yesterday with the election of Branislav Tutuš as the municipal speaker and Života Jocić as secretary.

The mandates of 57 councilors were verified at the session.
