A senior U.S. official has told B92 that cooperation between the U.S. and Serbian armed forces is important for overall relations between the two countries. Thomas Countryman, the deputy under-secretary of state for military and political affairs in the State Department, met in Belgrade with Interior and Foreign Ministers Ivica Dacic and Vuk Jeremic and with Defense Ministry State Secretary Dusan Spasojevic. U.S. official stresses need for good military cooperation In an interview with B92, Countryman, who knows Serbia well, said that the good cooperation established between the two nations’ armed forces had a major bearing on overall relations. He added that, despite the fact that there was not a willingness in Serbia for NATO membership, good cooperation with the American armed forces could continue.
