Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic has said that his cabinet recorded progress over the past year "in all the areas of the government program". But, he added that it had to postpone the realization of some of the set development plans because of the global economic crisis. PM looks back on first year in office "I believe we are heading in a good direction. Some might feel that the pace at which we are recording results is not adequate. I believe it is suited to the current circumstances. The efficacy of the government is at the level of what is possible to achieve in the given circumstances," Cvetkovic told Tanjug in Belgrade on Sunday, marking one year of work of this government. The prime minister said no further significant decline in the living standard should be expected. In one year, Serbia made significant progress regarding the two priority goals of the current government, and they are the integrations with Europe and the struggle to preserve the country's territorial integrity, he said. "As regards the European Union, the positive developments are primarily evident in the fact that we are on the right path to be included in the white Schengen list, which I expect will soon be announced." "Second, the government has adopted around 250 draft laws, one-third of which are necessary for the integration processes with Europe. Furthermore, we are looking forward with optimism to the possibility that the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) could be unfrozen in the coming months," the prime minister said. As for the struggle for Kosovo and Metohija, Cvetkovic singled out the importance of the shifting of the issue of the status of this Serb province from the area of politics to the frameworks of international law with the opening of the proceedings before the International Court of Justice.
