Serbia does not find it acceptable to have the Interim Trade Agreement with the EU implemented only for some products, says Bozidar Djelic. "Even worse, if we entered a different legal category, in other words, for this to be something other than what the SAA is, because only it leads to EU candidature," the deputy PM told B92 TV news last night. Serbia wants "all of interim deal" The Netherlands and Belgium on June 15 offered to have some parts of the interim trade deal – itself a part of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) – unfrozen, while other EU member were in favor of implementing all of it. Serbia and the EU signed the SAA over a year ago, but the agreement was immediately suspended pending Belgrade's full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. Now Djelic says that Serbia's policy is that of complete cooperation with the UN war crimes court, and that the time is right to unblock the agreement. "I intend to visit the Netherlands, and it's very important for the Serbian parliament to send a delegation to the Dutch parliament, which decides on the position that country will take. Either the Interim Trade Agreement will be unblocked or a formula that must be acceptable to Serbia will be found." He mentioned three possible months for this: July, October and December, explaining that unless "some formula" is found in July, the next chance will be the October summit of the EU, or the December report to the UN of the Hague's chief prosecutor. The minister stated that the visa regime liberalization decision concerning Serbians traveling to the EU should also be known by that time. This step is expected to be proposed in July. "However, we should not sit back now, because we need to do the technical part of the job, and the EU wishes to ascertained that Serbia is applying the adopted laws, before it makes the final decision." Djelic also said that the government, once it receives recommendations from the EU, will adopt a new action plan that will show that Serbia is "not relaxing, that Serbia is working hard to make sure that visas are canceled by the end of the year".
