A senior Kosovo Serb official has welcomed the Security Council’s support for the UNMIK mission, which could help revive dialogue between Serbs and Albanians. Speaking to B92, Vice-President of the Serb National Council Radmila Trajkovic said that that support meant preserving the status quo, which would make it easier to re-establish dialogue with central and local institutions in Pristina. K. Serb official welcomes "Security Council support" “We have a new status quo that defines Kosovo as an incomplete state. That opens scope for dialogue. We know that status is the essence of the division between Serbs and Albanians. I expect us to begin working on addressing the problems of Serbs and Albanians. We all have problems,“ she explained. Trajkovic said that the local elections in Kosovo, scheduled for November 15, offered an opportunity to carry out the internationally recognized and accepted “institutional legalization of the Serbs in Kosovo.“ “We have only a virtual government that just convenes, but hasn’t the instruments to govern. They cannot work without Pristina’s support,“ she said. The vice-president of the Serb National Council said that decentralization was the only possibility and chance for the Serbs to be able to govern those regions where they lived.
