The Raska-Prizren Eparchy stated that the move was “another form of pressure on the monks to leave the ancient shrine.” “The fact that the non-payment of electricity bills is not the main reason for turning off the power is illustrated by the fact that the majority of Albanian people in this area have not paid their bills either,” according to the statement. It adds that Zociste is one of the most at-risk monasteries in the parish. This monastery was attacked in 1998 and completely destroyed in 1999.
