Bojan Pajtic, of the ruling Democrats (DS), could soon withdraw from politics because of a conflict with the party leadership, writes daily Blic. Pajtic, who currently heads the Vojvodina Executive Council, announced he may return to his university career, which the newspaper interprets, quoting DS sources, as his "preparation of a backup position from which he could more openly react to increasing criticism, rather than an abrupt withdrawal from the political life, desired by his political opponents". Vojvodina Exec. Council head to step down? Pajtic told the daily that he would start lecturing and taking part in exams at the Novi Sad university as of the fall. His absence was discussed in the corridors during a recent DS main board meeting, the article continues. Blic says that its sources dismissed Pajtic's explanation that he was on an official trip to Brussels as "choosing the less important of the two", when he put promoting the EXIT music festival in Brussels above the party gathering. The newspaper's sources further stated that Pajtic was unhappy after being left out of the dinner Serbian president and DS leader Boris Tadic organized during U.S. VP Joseph Biden's recent visit here. According to this report, the fact that Novi Sad Mayor Igor Pavlicic made it to the dinner list added insult to injury.
