Serbia's new ambassador to Washington, Vladimir Petrovic, says that U.S. VP Joseph Biden's visit to Belgrade this week represents a "new beginning". "Since we agree to disagree over the Kosovo status, we can turn to a positive development of relations," Petrovic told VOA. "New relations between Serbia, U.S." Speaking about economic cooperation between Serbia and the United States, and the role of the embassy, he said that Belgrade does not expect significant investments from American companies, "considering the economic crisis". "There are larger companies present in Serbia but we, as the embassy, will strive to emphasize small and medium enterprises and try and attract those to invest in Serbia," Petrovic was quoted as saying. The Serbian ambassador also mentioned stronger cultural and educational relations as one of his priorities, adding that "cultural exchange is a good way to improve on political ties".
