Nikolić: Offer to Tadić, Koštunica still stands

Opposition SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic said that his offer to Boris Tadic and Vojislav Kostunica for creating a "concentration government" is still valid. He told B92 Radio on Monday that such a government is needed in Serbia because of the world economic crisis, and in order to differ from the current one, "because it would have joint answers to the issues which have gone unsolved in Serbia for many years". Even though Tadic, who heads the ruling Democrats (DS), and opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Kostunica have declined the offer, Nikolic said that it is still on the table. “I am not offering them to rule together, nor would we be able to do that – it would last two or three months. We could first halt what the current government is doing. That is an absolute degradation of Serbia in every respect, because little politicians that have big positions look at the situation, and seeing that there is no more space in politics left for them, they are taking what they can get,” Nikolic said. The former Radicals (SRS) second-in-command also said that only a united opposition can bring down the Cvetkovic cabinet, adding that he also "offered to members of his former party, the Serb Radical Party, to join forces against the ruling coalition". Nikolic claims that Tadic has completely changed his ideology since the presidential elections two years ago when then SNS leader was his main opponent, and that Tadic’s current ideology "looks more and more like the ideology that Nikolic represented in that election". “Tadic is no longer the one who says that Europe has no alternative. He is now against the idea of us being members of the EU, while either quietly or out loud losing Kosovo and Metohija. This is not the Tadic that said ‘I am not an optimist, Kosovo will be independent before it will be a part of Serbia',” Nikolic said. Nikolić claims that there is no other motive behind the offer besides Serbia's progress.
