Ambassador: Biden visit "new stage"

The upcoming visit of the U.S. Vice-President Joseph Biden to Belgrade "represents a new stage in the relations between the U.S. and Serbia". This is according to American Ambassador to Serbia Cameron Munter, who pointed out that the first visit of the U.S. top official since 1983 is an opportunity to bring the relations between the two countries to a higher level. Ambassador: Biden visit "new stage" In an interview published by the Belgrade daily Politika Monday, he underscored that Biden's visit will represent continuance of the American policy, "commitment to progress of not only Serbia but the entire region - its EU integration and cooperation in military and investment issues", according to a Tanjug report. He stated that the military security aspect on the Balkans will be the key subject of talks, but it will be only one of the topics to be discussed. When asked whether he thinks that current state in Kosovo is final and whether it will undergo any changes, the ambassador responded: "If by that you mean the legal status - yes." Munter said that he presumes that, "because of its history, because of 1999 and the difficulties it has experienced for the past twenty years, Serbia will sooner join the EU that NATO".
