Bosnian Federation police spokesman Robert Cvrtak says that the police can do nothing to Branimir Glavas until they receive a formal request from Croatia. The Croatian police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Glavas, who fled the country after being sentenced to ten years in prison for war crimes against Serb civilians in Osijek in 1991-1992. According to media in Zagreb, Glavas told officials via telephone that he had gone into exile, but that he would be coming back to Croatia. Police stated that the process for issuing an international arrest warrant was under way. According to media in Zagreb, Glavaš told officials via telephone that he had gone into exile, but that he would be coming back to Croatia.

Cvrtak said that the Bosnian police could not take any action against Glavaš currently.

“During the weekend, our officials made contact with him and talked things through. He is available to the federal police administration at all times,” Cvrtak said.

“At this moment in time, he is one of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s four million citizens. He is a free man and can move around the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina freely as such,” said Western Herzegovina Police Chief Damir Čutura.
