An opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) MP has been filming inside parliament to prove that ruling coalition MPs have been voting without a quorum. Milos Aligrudic gave tapes of yesterday’s parliamentary session to reporters, claiming that there had been irregularities in the voting. MPs voting without quorum? The video shows the cards of ruling coalition officials inserted in the electronic voting system, even though the MPs themselves are not present in their seats. “MPs were filmed (yesterday) putting their MP cards in and creating a quorum, but they were not in the hall, nor did they vote,” Aligrudic told reporters. He said that since MPs could not report irregularities on the day of voting, the only way to record what was going on in parliament was with a private video camera. “What we recorded was not about waiting or spying on irregularities. The whole process of recording lasted no more than six minutes,” Aligrudic said after distributing the footage to journalists. The Administrative Committee stated today that unauthorized video recordings in parliament were in breach of the Code of Procedure, and that Parliamentary Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic was expected to sanction those who had violated the Code. Aligrudic said that he had heard that the issue of filming in the parliamentary chamber had been raised in the Administrative Committee because of alleged harassment of MPs. “That is formulated completely incorrectly. It is better to ask what was actually recorded there,” the DSS official said. Parliament reconvened today to vote on the remaining 48 items on the agenda, after yesterday’s marathon five-hour vote, which saw only two laws adopted. Over 3,000 amendments were submitted to all the draft laws on the agenda of the current session, which began on March 30, so that voting could go on until Wednesday, when a new session is due to start. This may well be the longest vote in the parliament’s history. The ruling coalition's 126 MPs were in the chamber for the duration of yesterday's voting.
