European Parliament President Hans-Gert Pottering said that the countries of the Western Balkans have a European perspective. He also said that Croatia has a realistic chance of becoming an EU member-state soon. "Balkans has European perspective" Pottering told Deutsche Welle that the Balkan countries have a “European perspective, but each country must be looking at individually”. “The European Union also needs to make changes and internal renewal, it needs a signing of the Lisbon Treaty as soon as possible,” Pottering said.
