The spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe’s (PACE) comes to an end in Strasbourg today. Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg will today present a report on activities in 2008, while Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos will discuss the activities of the CoE Committee of Ministers, which Spain is presiding over. PACE session draws to close Spain will turn over the presidency of the committee to Slovenia at a ministerial conference of CoE member-states on May 12. Over the last few days, PACE has also evaluated the progress of Serbia in fulfilling its obligations, as well as the situation in Moldavia, the status of human rights activists in the CoE member-states, and other issues related to the creation of democratic institutions and the rule of law.

PACE session draws to close

Spain will turn over the presidency of the committee to Slovenia at a ministerial conference of CoE member-states on May 12.

Over the last few days, PACE has also evaluated the progress of Serbia in fulfilling its obligations, as well as the situation in Moldavia, the status of human rights activists in the CoE member-states, and other issues related to the creation of democratic institutions and the rule of law.
