Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonjic has told daily Vecernje Novosti that he guarantees that he will not be resigning within the next six months. Asked what had made him change his mind, Mrkonjic said that his desire to finish Corridor 10 was the main reason why he was staying put. “Mrkonjic has change of heart about resigning” Mrkonjic said that Serbia’s survival in conditions of an economic crisis hinged on this big project. “It was not just the money that hurt when I mentioned resignation. I am more upset by the state’s sluggish pace and hesitation. We have to be aggressive, not to pull back and moan ‘crisis, crisis, crisis…’” the minister said. He said that he guaranteed that 20 kilometers of highway would be complete in the north of country and the same amount in the south by the end of the year. “I believe that we can finish the 10-kilometer bypass around Belgrade as well,” Mrkonjic predicted.
