U.S. President Barack Obama today in Prague called on the EU "not to forget" the Western Balkans. Obama was meeting with EU presidents and prime ministers in the Czech capital. Call on EU "not to forget" Balkans "The United States is still firmly resolved to bring the process of the association of the Balkans into the trans-Atlantic integrations to a successful outcome. We certainly do not wish to give up on our goals in this area," he said during the informal EU-U.S. summit. The American president was also quoted as saying that the best way forward would be for Washington and Brussels to help the countries of the region to finalize their "difficult transition". Meanwhile, analysts say that the mention of the Western Balkans – although this part of Europe is low on the Obama administration's priority list – represents a clear signal that America is aware that "work in the Balkans is not nearly over yet". The same topic was one of the lesser items on the agenda as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with EU foreign policy ministers.
