The power cuts in Serb communities in northern Kosovo are breaches of fundamental human rights, says Kosovo Minister Goran Bogdanovic. Speaking to B92, he said that the situation was absolutely unacceptable. Bogdanovic slams "human rights violations" To the Kosovo Energy Corporation's (KEK) claim that the debts ran to around EUR 120mn, the minister said that this was innacurate and did not reflect the actual state of affairs. "Oh, come on now. These are arbitrary estimates, where does the minister get these figures from. That's the reason, that's scaremongering, when you come into a village and say: you owe EUR 200,000. What then? I live in Kosovo and no-one down there keeps a record of electricity usage. Where's it from? What figure is that? It's an arbitrary figure. What do they mean, 35 percent, when there are only 15 percent of us down there," said Bogdanovic. The minister added, however, that he himself did not pay for electricity.
