Austrian diplomat Valentin Inzko has received support from Washington to be named as new high representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina. This is according to a Radio Free Europe report this Saturday. Inzko gets U.S. backing for Bosnia job The outlet cites its diplomatic sources in Brussels who said that Inzko received a "pass mark" after direct meetings with the representatives of the American administration. The report reminds that Washington put an "important condition" before the diplomat in order to get their approval. Namely, Inzko had to promise that he would not refrain from using the so-called Bonn powers, which allow the high international representative to dismiss Bosnian officials from their offices and also give him the right to impose his decisions. Inzko is currently Austria's ambassador to Slovenia.
