The Serbian government has classified as secret the information about the case of Miladin Kovacevic in the interest of all sides participating in the talks. This is according to the government's public relations office statement issued on Monday in Belgrade. "Document classified to secure success of talks" The government will remove the confidentiality clause pertaining to these documents after a solution acceptable to both countries is reached, the statement said. Talks on this case are being conducted by the government and the publication of documents classified as secret in the course of the negotiating process is not in the interest of the resolution of problems, since all details of a possible agreement have not been determined, the government said. The government insists that the corresponding state organs determine the criminal responsibility of all persons suspected of breaking the law. At the same time, the corresponding organs will continue the investigation to find who revealed the information, without authorization, about documents classified as confidential, the statement said. Daily won’t reveal source in Kovacevic story Daily Borba Editor-in-Chief Olivera Zekic said that she will "never uncover" their source for the stories regarding Miladin Kovacevic. Zekic told B92 that she will be going to the police for questioning today. Borba published information last week stating that the government decided to set aside USD 900, 000 for compensation for the family of Bryan Steinhauer, whom Kovacevic is charged with brutally assaulting in a barroom brawl stateside, and another USD 100,000 for Kovacevic’s bail, and made all of that a state secret. “I will be talking with the inspector who has told me that I should come in for a talk later today, so I will be going to the police today for an official interview, which is what they called it,” Zekic said. “What I want to stress is that the people at Borba and myself will not, under any circumstance, divulge our sources for the information regarding Kovacevic. Even if they arrest all of us and close down the paper, the source is ours and we will protect him or her until the end,” she said. She added that Borba is, for the most part, satisfied with the reaction of its colleagues. “Everyone is on our side. The government did not expect unity between journalists in such a sensitive case, and on the other side, I think that this case is the first in the history of scandals since October 5 which has been able to unite the public, and that everyone is on the side of the truth,” Zekic said.
