Romania is not changing its stance and will not recognize Kosovo, says Romanian Foreign Minister Christian Diaconescu. The Kosovo Albanian declaration runs contrary to international norms and principles, he told Beta news agency in Bucharest on Monday. Romania joins others in rejecting EP resolution Last week’s European Parliament (EP) resolution, which recommended EU member-states to recognize Kosovo, is not mandatory, added Diaconescu. Slovakia, Spain and Greece have also rejected the EP resolution. At a security conference in Munich over the weekend, he said that “Romania supports the European perspective of countries in the region, including Serbia, and that aspect concerns all EU member-states.” Diaconescu emphasized that “it is necessary to recognize Serbia as a member of our European family.” The perspective favoring Euro-Atlantic integration of the western Balkans has a key role in the region’s stability, said the Romanian foreign minister.
