Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis today visited Pristina in her capacity as chair of the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). She told her interlocutors that the visit to Kosovo reflects the importance that the OSCE and Greece attach to the promotion of peace and stability in the Balkans, adding that the Greek position on the status of Kosovo remains unchanged. No change in Greek position, FM tells Pristina "Our position is clear, we are here, in EULEX, in KFOR, we are working together and continuing to help Kosovo, but our position on Kosovo remains unchanged," Bakoyannis said. Greece has not recognized last February's Kosovo Albanians' unilaterally declared independence. "Greece, as a neighbor, friend and the OSCE president, will support Kosovo in the realization of its aspirations to be a part of Europe," she said after meeting with Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu. She underscored her profound belief that long-term solutions can be reached only through a dialogue, democracy and diplomacy. "There have been too many conflicts in the Balkans and it is time to resolve problems by reaching solutions that are acceptable to both sides," Bakoyannis added, noting that the situation in Kosovo is sensitive and requires special attention of the international community.
