Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic says that "an investment of EUR 10mn for Serbia" has been secured at a recent meeting in Davos. This official told B92 that the investment was agreed with the president of tire-maker Michelin, and that it will be realized within the next 18 months. Djelic announces EUR 10mn investment “After Davos, I see a confirmation that when the world demand falls by 30 percent, world investors are looking where to invest at this moment,” he was quoted as saying. Djelic also stated that the International Monetary Fund expects the industrial growth for this year internationally to be 0.5 percent, which is the lowest margin since the Second World War. “For developed countries, the IMF expects a total economic growth of negative two percent, and less developed countries, negative three or four percent. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development stated that Serbia will have growth of 2.5 percent,” he said. One of the meeting at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he continued, heard a proposal for forming an Economic Council for Security as part of the United Nations. Djelic said that this was a preparation for the meeting the G8 in London, announced for April 2. He said that he expects Gazprom to pay EUR 400mn for its acquisition of NIS on Monday. “I do not know the technical details, but as I heard, the money and corporative guarantees have been transferred and I expect that the money will be paid today. It is time to start working,” Djelic said. He added that the effects of the crisis have led all countries to have more communication between unions, employers and governments and that it would be a paradox for the Western Balkans to be the only region where this does not take place. “That is why I have made the invitation, and I am happy that all colleagues from the six countries of the Western Balkans have answered positively to come to Serbia and send a united message that we support one another in European integrations, and point to the fact that the EU has not set aside any funds yet for this part of Europe,” Djelic said. According to him, there are bilateral problems between some of the six countries, but those would be discussed "at the next opportunity".
