Serbian delegation talks investments

Serbia has a delegation at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, led by Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic. Their aim in some 30 meetings so far was to present investment opportunities that the country has to offer, it has been reported. Serbian delegation talks investments One of the meetings was with tire-maker Michelin CEO Michel Rollier, when it was agreed, according to Djelic, to discuss increased production in the company's Pirot-based Tigar operation, and "to invest in building a logistics center" in Serbia. However, Rollier specified that Michelin would be ready to expand the production in Pirot, southern Serbia, "after the economic crisis". As for other meetings, Djelic said, they focused on energy, telecommunications and high technology. He mentioned an agreement to "in the next couple of months produce a strategic partnership between Hewlett-Packard and our country", while Telekom Srbija's privatization possibilities were discussed with Deutsche Telekom representatives. Telekom Srbija's General Director Branko Radujko, who is also in Davos, said that beside the German telecommunications operator, he met with representatives from AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft and Intel. "The meetings were very concrete," said Radujko, but added, "today, nobody talks easily about investments, considering the financial crisis, but there really was a high degree of interest shown for direct investments in Serbia's telecommunications market." Serbia's delegation at the WEF is the only one from southeastern Europe, it was reported.
